All Taxpayers, including married individuals filing separate returns, can claim a deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions to qualifying charities, during 2023. 

The maximum deduction is $600 for married individuals filing joint returns.

Hands on experience creates awareness of community concerns and volunteerism declares the love of God to all people. V.I.T.A program serves as a basis for career options. 

Our goal is to educate students in tax law and ethical practices in preparation for the IRS Certification Exam. We equip students to provide intake and quality control support to preparers and coordinators at the V.I.T.A site.

    First it is important to know deducting specific medical expenses only applies to taxpayers who are itemizing their deductions versus using the standard deduction. Next; you may deduct only deduct medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income.

    These payments are not stimulus checks but advancements. These advances could result in an overpayment of child tax credits. In this case, the IRS may demand repayment of the credit come tax time. If you don’t usually receive a refund, the advance payments could cause you to owe. The advances will also affect divorced parents, especially if children move between households alternating the child tax credit.
